Please note this item is now only available with the main body (part that fits to base) in silver finish not black as shown. This combined kit of a green laser pointer and AC666 Laser-Mate universal telescope mounting bracket is perfect for attaching to all telescopes large and small.

Used in the hand the vivid green laser is perfect for pointing out stars and constellations in the sky - the green laser will actually show up against the dark sky and also produce a bright spot at the apparent end of the beam.

The body is manufactured of aluminium with a handsome and durable surface finish with push button instant on/off switch and pocket pen clip. (please note there may be some difference in apperance from the laser unit pictured - but no difference in performance). The laser runs on 2x AAA alkaline batteries.

The Astro Engineering AC666 Laser-Mate.

Picture 2 shows the AC666 universal fit laser pointer finder bracket that allows you to attach the laser to any telescope to create a superb telescope finder!

Used responsibly, the laser finder is a great way to point a telescopes - its great on GOTO scopes too - showing you exactly where the instrument is pointing, to show other observers or to transfer the target position to another non-GOTO scope etc. The Laser-Mate finder bracket attaches to the telescope using the AE universal mounting bracket that can be used on telescope tubes ranging in size from 80mm upwards to 450mm and beyond! The universal mounting uses double-sided foam adhesive strip for permanent fixing (removable!). The separate finder bracket (easily removed from the base by loosening the thumb screws) has six nylon thumb screws that allow you to collimate your laser pointer into perfect registration with the telescope.

SNS comment: We think this is a great product and we are enjoying using ours - but we have noted some examples of irresponsible not to say criminal use of green laser pointers around the world and in the UK.

The device is completely safe (you would need to stare fixedly for a period in to the beam at close range to cause damage to the retina of the eye. However it is enough that many people merely believe that "laser radiation" (it sure sounds nasty!)is dangerous to make it an act of idiotic irresponsibility to point the beam at people in fun - frightening people just isn't funny regardless of how harmless the beam actually is. It's like pointing a replica gun at someone - even if the gun's a fake the fear will be real. (James M. SNS)

WARNING: Please read the the following:

This green laser is a powerful instrument and is not suitable for use by children. The laser must not be pointed at people. It is a criminal offence to use a laser to distract the attention of a vehicle driver or aircraft pilot.

We suggest also as an article of good behaviour that this device is not used at star parties and other gatherings of astronomers as many find them just another very annoying form of light pollution - you have been warned!

So why sell something you don't have 100% confidence in?

Our answer: we have full confidence in the product - it's foolish people we have a problem with. Used responsibly green lasers are fine - they make pointing an instrument and sharing information with other viewers supremely easy and fun. As an astronomy educational aid they are excellent. They are not illegal and having enjoyed their use ourselves we can see no reason not to offer this excellent product to our customers. But we are concerned about the responsible use of the product and urge all purchasers to follow the above guidelines and restrictions - and have safe fun with your laser!

Points any telescope with ease!
